Viared Center Borås

800-sqare-metre glass balustrade for new business center in Sweden

In the Swedish city of Borås, located a 45-minute drive from Gothenburg, a large centre is currently under construction. The centre is situated next to the city’s major business park, Viared, and will serve the 6,000 employees from 150 companies with services ranging from cleaning, administration, and parcel handling to hairdressing, fitness, and a lunch café.

The building's architecture follows a biophilic design, heavily emphasising the symbiosis between nature and the building's spaces, green areas, and materials, which have been chosen with a focus on minimising environmental impact and limiting CO2 emissions. Much of the construction is therefore made from wood. At the top, there is a rooftop terrace with plants and views, protected by a total of 800 square metres of glass balustrades, distributed across 150 pieces measuring 2 x 3 metres each.

The glass, produced by Glaseksperten, is also laminated with the exceptionally durable Saflex® Structural safety interlayer, which is Cradle to Cradle® certified, meaning the film is responsibly produced and can be part of a circular economy.
