850 square metres of glass for the central building at the new Lalandia

In June 2022, Lalandia will open a new, large holiday center in Søndervig, where glass from Glaseksperten contributes to blending the 15,000-square-meter central building with the surrounding nature. Glaseksperten has supplied approximately 850 square meters of facade glass for the central building, which includes a large water park.

When the new Lalandia in Søndervig opens in June, the many visitors to the holiday center will enjoy views of the surrounding dune and fjord landscape while relaxing in the warmth and comfortable indoor climate of the center building. This is partly made possible by glass from the glass manufacturer Glaseksperten in Hjørring.

All the glass is triple-glazed, and many glazed units in the center building feature solar control on one side and laminated safety glass on the other.

“The center building will provide the setting for many activities, including the large aquadome, so it is naturally very important that the indoor climate remains comfortable year-round. In this regard, our solar control glass plays a significant role, as it ensures that the building doesn’t overheat and eliminates reflections from the sun. At the same time, the solar control helps keep energy consumption at a very low level,” says Sales Director Jess Gregersen from Glaseksperten.

The large center building blends into the surrounding nature, as the architects from Bay Arch have greatly emphasized creating a building that connects with its surroundings. The large glass panels help create harmony between the building and the landscape, says Christian Bay-Jørgensen from Bay Arch, who designed the building.

“We have focused on making sure the center building adapts to the area with its marram grass and undulating landscape. With elements like sedum, light fiber-cement facades, and glass, we can create the architectural narrative we want. The various materials help bring the 15,000-square-meter building down to a human and comfortable scale. The glass contributes to creating transparency, openness, and the lightness that is necessary for the building to appear as unobtrusive as possible, and especially the wedge-shaped glass panels are essential for the scale and the landscape narrative,” says architect Christian Bay-Jørgensen from Bay Arch.

Lalandia in Søndervig will open in June 2022, and bookings for stays at the holiday center are now open.
