The new hospital in Drammen will be a comprehensive emergency hospital, offering elective, acute somatic, and psychiatric services. It will be part of the future urban development in the fjord cities of Lier and Drammen.

High environmental standards

The hospital is being built to the passive house standard with an energy rating of A, and active efforts are being made to implement solutions that provide excellent environmental quality and reduce the carbon footprint. Through careful material selection and conscious planning, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions will be tracked from the early detailed designs to the as-built phase. A greenhouse gas report will be submitted for the entire construction project, and an environmental declaration will be provided for the 10 most commonly used materials.

Construction methods and solutions must use the lowest possible material quantities. A minimum of 80% of construction waste must be sorted for recycling or reuse. During demolition, 95% by weight of the waste must be recycled or reused.

MicroShade® is the ideal solution for this project, with its sustainable characteristics, such as minimal material use and a low, efficient g-value. These units not only significantly improve the indoor climate but also lead to low operational costs. MicroShade® aligns perfectly with the goal of creating an environmentally friendly and economically responsible building.

For the project, we have supplied 600 m² of MicroShade® triple-glazed units with our energy-efficient Super Spacer® for the southwest-facing façades. Some of the units are fitted with P5A safety glass.
