Facade glass with MicroShade®
MicroShade® is a microstructured film laminated to the inside of the outer pane of an Individual Glazed Unit. The solution has no moving parts and can be integrated into both double- and triple-glazed Individual Glazed Units.
With our MicroShade® facade glass, it is possible to create facades with views, natural daylight and effective solar shading. MicroShade® is a passive solution with no moving parts, with the solar shading integrated directly into the Individual Glazed Unit.

MicroShade® facade glass is suitable for commercial and residential buildings with large glazed areas where there is a need to limit solar heat gain while maintaining daylight and views. The solution can help reduce cooling demand.

Effective shading of direct sunlight
MicroShade® provides up to 97% shading of direct sunlight when the sun is high, helping to limit solar heat gain at the facade.
Thermal comfort
MicroShade® reduces solar heat gain and can thereby reduce cooling demand. Depending on the glazing configuration, an effective g-value of 0.08–0.15 can be achieved.
No ongoing maintenance
MicroShade® is a passive solar shading solution with no moving parts or control units and requires no ongoing maintenance of the solar shading itself.
Natural daylight
MicroShade® maintains natural daylight while limiting solar heat gain. Light transmittance depends on the specific glazing configuration and can be calculated in SimShade.

What happens when sunlight hits MicroShade®?
MicroShade® uses a microstructure that shades direct sunlight depending on the angle of the sun, while maintaining daylight and views.
- In summer, when the sun is high, MicroShade® provides up to 97% shading of direct sunlight and solar transmittance as low as 8%. This reduces solar heat gain and can thereby reduce cooling demand.
- In winter, when the sun is lower, solar transmittance is approximately 20–35%, allowing a greater proportion of solar heat to contribute to heating.
